Bristol Wireless

Bristol Wireless is a social enterprise committed to social improvement through the building of a wireless computer network. The organisation promotes freely distributable and alterable software by providing training, support and advocacy. By providing community networks that are free to use, they can grant access to the internet and provide an outlet for locally-focused and created multimedia content. Environmental sustainability is key to their philosophy and wherever appropriate, they use reused or recycled equipment.

Connecting Bristol

The Digital Challenge was a 2007 government competition to identify a national showcase for ICT innovation. Bristol won a place in the final top-ten and now Connecting Bristol continues to work with the other finalists and partners to harness the energy and creativity of Bristol to extend opportunities through digital inclusion.

Knowle West Media Centre

Knowle West Media Centre is engaged in developing the creative, educational and social potential of people within the surrounding community and the city as a whole. The media centre acts as a creative focal point for the community, providing access to project facilities, training and mentoring, as well as managed workspace for local businesses. Their programme includes a wide range of projects developed in collaboration with young people and the community, artist’s commissions and residencies, events, and collaborative projects with organisations across the region. The South Bristol Digital Neighbourhoods (SBDN) programme is based at the centre and will work closely with staff to coordinate SBDN programme activities.
