A-Clinic Foundation - Marginalised Young People
Reaching out to young people who are disadvantaged or marginalised from mainstream societies. Helping them to use digital technology in ways that improve their selfconfidence and life skills, and assisting them to engage with others in achieving purposeful goals.
The A-Clinic Foundation provides services to reduce alcohol, drug and other addictions. Their project Shadow World aims to reach Finnish young people aged 11-15 suffering from parental substance misuse and to provide them with information and support. The project uses several ways to reach out to these young people, including an interactive website where they can both find information and share their stories either as text or as a comic strip, with the ability to remain completely anonymous. The young people are also invited to join a ‘closed’ virtual network group moderated by counsellors with the chance to use SMS messaging.
Further information on A-Clinic Foundation and Shadow World is available from their website, www.a-klinikka.fi or alternatively in case study format on www.epractice.eu
