European Commission

Managing an international awards scheme and communications programme.

Digitopian/Citizens Online in partnership with Key20 Media delivered the inaugural European e-Inclusion Awards. The e-Inclusion Awards were established by the European Commission to raise awareness, encourage participation and recognise excellence & good practice in using ICT and digital technology to tackle social and digital exclusion across Europe.

A key piece of the EU programme, beyond delivering on the awards, was to stimulate e-Inclusion activity by current non-practitioners..

Digitopian and Citizens Online did this through:.

1. Communicating the benefits and importance of e-inclusion to a wider audience of currently non-practicing stakeholders, to inspire activity..

2. Stimulating the sharing of best practice and practical tools amongst the community of practitioners and potential practitioners..

The awards attracted 469 entrants from across 32 countries and provided the European Commission with the highest number of submissions to an inaugural awards programme.
